The following outline guides you on making the important calls and notifications about your move, including a reminder of what utilities to contact for changes or new account set up.

30-60 days before moving
- Relax and continue enjoying your home.
- View your belongings in terms of what you will take, keep or otherwise dispose of.
- Begin planning for new items to purchase (i.e. appliances)
- Initiate any new home renovation planning
- Contact moving companies to obtain quotes for service or quotes for van rental
- Plan a 'Garage Sale' either on your own or with your neighbours
15-30 days before moving
- Start sorting your belongings into what to sell, what to keep, what to discard and what to give away
- Hold the 'Garage Sale'
- Return borrowed items, movies, library books, tools, etc.
- Collect your 'lent out' items
- If moving from or to an apartment, reserve the elevator for moving day/time
- Begin using up frozen foods
- Discard/recycle all flammable, environmentally sensitive products (i.e. paints)

Moving day
- Leave keys at your lawyer's office for all exterior doors
- Double check all rooms, closets, drawers, storage areas before leaving
- Lock all doors, windows and entry ways
- Leave extra keys with Re/Max Representative to take to lawyers office
- Leave thermostat at 60°
- Take Utility Readings (Hydro, Gas, Etc.)
- Test appliances to ensure they are working.
- Leave your forwarding address so new owners can send mail, if necessary (exception where privacy is a paramount consideration).
